San Diego fishing is heating up with plenty to do and great late spring weather. The makos just showed up I’n the last couple of weeks! The sharks were following a large push of barracuda up the coast. The Yellowtail bite has slowed a bit but the bass, cuda, sharks, and halibut have been great. Our weather has been perfect with small south swells and lots of sun. With these conditions the water temps are up I’n the mid sixties and the pelagics are here!
Welcome summer were ready for warm water and great fishing! We are already seeing warmer water and signs of larger Pelagic life. Over the last couple of weeks we have had a pretty good Yellowtail bite in La Jolla and up in the north county kelp areas. I have heard of some great Bonito fishing just below the border so the Makos have to be close. We have lots of Sand crabs on the beaches and the Corbina and Perch are thick especially with the small surf. Lets get outside and enjoy some of our beautiful San Diego weather!
I have fished with many guides. Guides in Florida, cost rica,Mexico, dvland elsewhere but the best guide I have fished with is in my own backyard. I and my family have fished with Jeff many of times and have never had a bad experience. We have never not caught fish from spotties sandies and bones in the bay to dorados yellow tail tuna blues and makos outside we have always caught fish. Jeff stock is a no brainer when it comes to looking for a guid. That is my son holding that blue shark one of eight we caught that day

I have had a few San Diego Bay trips as well as a couple Halibut trips the last few weeks. The fishing in San Diego is really warming up with spring. With summer just around the corner I’m really excited to get some of the offshore fishing going. I think this year is going to be better than last. We seem to be coming out of a La Nina and headed in the direction of a warm El Nino.
San Diego County Fish and Game Commissioner Steve Turigliatto shows off a fine bass from Lake Hodges that he fooled with a 5-inch skinny Senko.

Absolute best fishing is always early, with some anglers reporting 50 bass or more in one outing. Plan on getting a reservation the first couple months. Water level changes always make fishing tougher here. Tickets for fishing in May go on sale at 7 p.m. April 10 through Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.

Heavily stocked all year with trout. Mt. Lassen, Jess Ranch and the Department of Fish and Game. In recent weeks the lake received nearly 2,000 pounds of trout from the DFG and 1,000 pounds of trout from Jess Ranch. We have Halibut all over the place right now! With this hot weather and calm surf these fish are begining their spawning habits a little early. It seems that the bass are being duped as well with great Sand Bass and Calico bites going on in La Jolla. The surrounding San Diego Coastline has been really good as well. Fishing San Diego bay has been great as well with huge numbers of Spotted Bay Bass, Corvina and Halibut. The weather here couldn’t be better with 70 degree days and very light winds.
